Healthy Kids Centre

The YMCA of Niagara in partnership with Brock University’s Faculty of Applied Health Sciences will open its doors on May 30, 2010 at its Niagara Street, St Catharines site and unveil the Niagara Healthy Kids Centre. This new active learning space will house programming designed to offer lifestyle programs for children and their families to teach healthy living focusing on physical activity and nutrition as well as provide student learning trips to animate the new Ontario K-8 Health and Physical Education curriculum and serve as a fun and educational experience for students and their teachers when they visit the Centre.  The Healthy Kids Centre will continue to offer “healthy, active themed” birthday parties.

Located at 360 Niagara Street, this facility features state of the art equipment and building design, all specially designed to create a fun learning environment.  The building features:

• Silhouette Mirror room
• Healthy living orienteering course
• Traversing wall
• Dance pads and Wii Fit
• Activity floor
• Growing gardens
• Healthy Eating Kitchen
• Outdoor play and picnic area

When fully launched the Healthy Kids Centre will offer new cooking/nutrition programs in our Healthy Eating Kitchen/Garden and a unique family weight management program. Watch for more information.
